Saruni Mara Overview

Saruni is a deluxe and intimate lodge set in a private conservation area (the stunning Mara North Conservancy) outside the Maasai Mara National Reserve offering the thrill of a real African adventure coupled with the highest standards of style and comfort. Saruni is proud to be rated silver by Ecoutourism Kenya.

Accommodation

The lodge has 6 cottages and 1 stunning family villa. All the rooms in the cottages are uniquely design offering a different experience: astrology, arts, literature, photography room and the “Love Shack” cottage, thought for honeymooners. The family villa, dedicated to the theme of natural history, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large dining and sitting area with an amazing via of the Masai mara plains. Saruni also has an award-winning spa, called Maasai Wellbeing Space.

The accommodations are furnished with colonial antiques, Persian carpets and African art. Each cottage has hot and cold running water, 220-volt electricity, elegant Italian bathroom fittings, polished wooden floors, and large bathrooms with canvas fronts that can be opened to offer you an amazing “shower with a view”.

Saruni also runs and operates a private tented camp, called Saruni Wild. There are 2 double tents and one family tent at Saruni Wild, 10 km from the main lodge with a spacious beige tent with hand-made Desert Rose cedar furniture and en suite bathroom facilities.

Food

The cuisine has a strong Italian flavor and is praised as some of the best gourmet cuisine in the Kenyan bush. The camp can easily accommodate vegetarians and guests with special requests.

Soft drinks, beer, house wines and non-luxury spirits are included in the room rates.

Champagne, special wines and luxury spirits are additional.

Guides

All the guides come from the local community and are members of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association. Our guiding team is made of great, charismatic and knowledgeable guides who receive fantastic reviews from our discerning clients.

Saruni supports the Koyiaki Guiding School project, the first and only school that trains Maasai professional safari guides in Kenya.
