Ngare Sero Lodge Overview

Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is located 20 kilometres east of Arusha in northern Tanzania. Built in 1905, the lodge is well known for its origins as the estate of the Von Trapp family (yes, the very family of The Sound of Music fame). Since the 1970s, however, Ngare Sero has been firmly owned and faultlessly run by Tim and Katya Leach, who deliver some of the country's highest levels of service. The lodge is surrounded by 20 hectares of forest, with a lake and a trickling creek, so peace is pretty much assured from the moment you arrive.
